Girly Date: Downtown LA Day Trip

Over the years, I’ve learned that one of the best gifts to give a friend is your time. With this thing called running a business, I find myself more and more fighting with time to get enough quality time with loved ones. I  had wanted to take out one of my best friends, Trude on a girly date for her birthday back in October and we finally made it happen last December.

It was everything expected coming from the two of us. One thing we both miss is doing fun shoots out in the town, just because. I had been dying to go to LA so I made some recommendations and it of course had to commence with a fabulous meal. We had lunch at Bottega Louie, one of my favorites in LA. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out. Absolutely love the NYC type of feel with their tall ceilings and windows. Like we did back in the day, years ago when we worked together… we were strategic about our order so we could share and indulge until we hit a food coma. Benefits of being friends with me, you’re welcome, Trude.;)Aside from their food being absolute heaven, their bread and macaroons are to scream for. We are spoiled.

We hit the Last Bookstore, it was on my must list for over a year! I knew Trude would love it and we found some really good deals for almost new and older books. I was really surprised at what a good selection they had, especially in the recipe, foodie bios section. Afterwards we walked over to the public library, something we both had been wanting to do for a while. The place is beautiful. We visited a few exhibits and took portraits of each other, surprise, surprise.

You can view Trude’s version of the day, here.

I love it when Trude turns on her sexy and gives me her all. My camera really loves her.

Two of my favorites that she captured of me. Just love.

I love LA and I never mind the parking and traffic because that’s where all the good stuff is. What a fun day! We didn’t get to do the Griffith Observatory and dinner like we planned, but that’s okay… we will have to make it happen sometime this spring.

I’ll be back with a self-portrait project that I’m excited to start.

Trude - Hooray for day trips! It was the best. I’m still not over that bread. Can’t wait to do it again. :)

Barbara Hall - You and Trude had a day that I would really enjoy — a good meal, a good bookstore and the public library!! I’ve been wanting to visit and photograph at the historical San Francisco public library — hope to get to that sooner than later.
